Heading North

Monday I finally got somebody to sign my last confirmation of employment letter. I sent my final documents to my immigration lawyer, and he filed the application for pre-approval of my work permit. He advised that it usually takes 5 working days to process and I would probably not have approval until Monday.

Yesterday was the last day of my old job. I made quite a few final updates to documentation and transfered my unfinished projects to my colleagues. It was strange leaving a job after four and a half years. It was even more strange having no new emails on my phone when I woke up this morning.

My lawyer called today, and informed me that I am pre-approved and I can cross the border whenever I want. I have all of my papers printed and signed. My car is packed full of all my bare necessities. I have clothes, computers, printers, a coffee pot and a few other items.

Tomorrow morning I will drive out of Dallas towards Toronto. If I get started early enough, I should be in Nashville before too late. Fortunately, my sister Elaine lives near Nashville which is about half way between Dallas and Toronto.

I will take pictures along the way and post a few along the way. If everything goes as planned, I should be arriving in Toronto on Sunday. Wish me luck!
